Ashanti Shequoiya, who was born Douglas, is popularly known Ashanti. Ashanti was birthed October 13 1980, on the shores of Glen Cove New York United States. She is a US singer as well as songwriter. Ashanti started her career in the teen years, and was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. The same year, she was featured on Fat Joe's What's Luv? song and Ja Rule's Always on Time track. Both of them became massive hits. In the year she debuted her debut single the single, What's Luv, at number two at the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at #1 featuring Foolish being her first single, she was the only female artist to accomplish this feat. She became the first female artist to hold the highest two positions on the American Billboard Hot 100, with Foolish at number one and the other being What's Loving?
